The city of Ara in Bihar has been special in many respects. The famous historian Buchanan had told that the city got its name as Ara because it was situated on a high place south of the Ganges. Due to being in Aad or Arar, this city was named ‘Ara’. This city also has the distinction of being the workplace of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, the chief fighter of the first freedom struggle of 1857.
