Tourists or pilgrims passing through this market do not forget to taste this sweet. Pakribarawan’s unique sweet Bara has a rich history. Local people say that before independence, the manufacture of this sweet was started by a businessman named Dullichand. Its popularity started increasing due to being delicious and tasty.
There is also a famous saying associated with this that if a coin of one rupee was dropped on this sweet at that time, the sweet would break and shatter into many parts. Ravi Shankar Pappu, owner of Bara’s old shop Ras Mahal of this business family confirms this. Still many families of Dullichand are associated with this business. Along with this, there are many dozens of shops in the headquarters. The business of sweets has taken the form of cottage industry here.

This dessert has been tasted and praised by many celebrities. The shopkeepers here tell that in 1961, the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, stopped here and tasted this sweet dessert while going to Sekhodevara Ashram via Nawada-Kauakol road. Then he also praised this sweet brownishly. Along with this, many great personalities including Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan had tasted it.
